I had a thought on the 2 makeup games for Starleafs and BLSH. The playoffs were supposed to start on 11-20, but since there was a rainout i'm guessing those games will now be made up that week. Anyone on both teams interested in making our 2 games up on 11-27 (no games scheduled)? I know it's the end of a holiday weekend and it may not be feasible, but i thought i'd throw it out there. I'm not too interested in playing another night of the week to make the games up.

Doesn't much matter to me when we make up games but I think we should definitely play every game that was scheduled since we paid to play all of them.

I was chatting with some gentlemen, and we thought it would be beneficial for us to have makeup games (and scrimmage for those who don't need to makeup any) on 11/20 instead of starting playoffs. Then starting playoffs when we get back from Thanksgiving, the first week of December. Which puts us at having the finals the second week in December.
Then postponing starting the next season until mid to late February for a couple reasons.
First, we would bypass a good chunk of bad weather we'd cancel for anyway, but also, I know that a number of our guys want to take a break after this season anyway mostly due to family and weather. I think that it would fit with all parties.
Thoughts?

I'm on board with this. It was pretty frustrating with the weather last winter and this winter is supposed to be worse. Plus it would make my wife very happy to have a longer break than what we have had in the past.

Every team has makeup games. We had a rainout. But we have an extra 2 makeup games with you guys from the "light"out, which is why i suggested 11-27 to make those up.

I know that 11/27 is a travel day for a lot of people. I still don't know what I'm doing that day but it's about 65% that I"M traveling that day. I know Bill will be out of town too. It might be kinda tough to get a game together that day.

I agree with Chris. I think we should have the week 2 make-up games on 11/20 instead of the 1st round playoffs. If Star Leafs and BLSH want to play their 2 games from week 1 on 11/27 I am fine with that but I won't be available to play. If it doesn't happen on 11/27 then we'll probably need to cancel them. If we don't we will be playing into the 3rd week of December. This schedule allows us to resume playing on Dec 4 with the 1st round playoffs and then Dec 11 with the finals. Then we are off till Feb. Maybe that will give us time to make repairs to the boards.

Yeah, I'll most likely be unavailable for games on 11/27 as well.
Also, I think the next "off-season" break from mid December until late Feb will also be great for our spouses/families/significant others. I know my wife is in line with Brandon's. She's pushing for me to take some time off and I'd rather not push to play in crappy cold Indiana winter anyway. I love going back-to-back seasons starting in March and going through November where we can take advantage of the weather, but I think the wives/families would rather have us home for an extended period of time around the holidays.

Dave: Just to keep you updated. I have back surgery on 11/21 to fix my popped disc. Nothing else worked. It is outpatient. I hope I should be able to play hockey again sometime but maybe not goalie with all the twisting and diving I do. You have my home number to keep me in the loop when the next season starts.

Does anyone on BLSH know who had goals and assists on the tying goal and OT winner in our final game? Those two weren't written down on the score sheet. Thanks.

I know Brian had the game winner. I was told someone wrote them down. I drew a line for the third game in the wrong spot so there are two lines there. The higher line on the sheet is the correct one. That might clear up the other missing goal.

Are we all agreed then, that next Sunday 11/20 is for make-up games?
BLSH and Starleafs need to make up 2 games to be even with everyone else, and we all missed week 2 because of weather.
Then playoffs start December 4th, with Finals December 11th.

Yea, from what I gathered from Dave yesterday, next week will be played just as if it was week 2, to make up for the rainout games. Not sure what the plan is for the two BLSH and Starleaf games. That's probably just up to your two teams, however and whenever you want to make those up.

By the way, I'm looking to get the site up to date, as soon as Dave gives me the stats from his match up last week.

I hada thought last night about our league. There is no doubt a lot of frustration with the lack of players and the commitment of people showing up. We've had a downward trend for a few seasons now. Thinking about why this would be happening it occurred to me that although everybody loves playing every week, a year round commitment makes it very difficult. If we look at other common adult sports leagues, none them really play year round. I would like to propose we move to two seasons per year, spring and fall. We could play from April into early June and September into mid November. This would eliminate playing in temperatures either to hot for good ball handling or weather that limits playability week to week in the winter with ice and snow. We would also run into fewer conflicts with holidays and typical vacation times. Most importantly, those who have families would not be committed to playing every Sunday away from their family for the majority of the year. These are my thoughts, please feel free to chime in and discuss!

I agree with Andrew in the fact that we should have our "off season" from about mid November until March. With various pickup games and ice times in between.
I would, however, rather play 2 seasons back to back from March until about mid July, then again until mid November. Especially if we can get some guys to join us that are home for the summer.

I have to echo what these guys are saying. I think it really is a big part of the attrition we have experienced. I don't care as much about the weather as much as I have a wife who hates the back to back to back, etc.. seasons. I could sit out but we need players so I feel guilty. I think it's time to have a few months off after this season wraps for sure.

I love the idea for pickup games in the off season too! Maybe the facility will do something like $25 to use the nets and court for a night or something.

So to clarify we are playing week 2 on Sunday as the schedule reflects on the website for the originally scheduled times? I don't want to show up on Sunday and no one be there. If you need me to update stats I can. I have some time available. I see it's been a struggle to get the website updated.

That's the plan as I understand as well and that's what I've told my guys.
As far as the site goes, I've told Dave I can do it, and have actually updated it the last couple times. I have last weeks stats and one of the match ups stats from week 8, but I've been waiting for Dave to give me the stats from his week 8 match up. I've been blowing u his phone for 2 weeks to get those to me, but to no avail. And I really had posting partial stats on the site, cause then it just gets even more confusing. So basically, moral of the story is:
DAVE, IF YOU CAN HEAR ME AND YOU'RE OUT THERE, GIVE ME YOUR WEEK 8 STATS FROM YOUR MATCH UP!!
