This weekend the Colts game is on from 4:15 to 7:00.  

We can move the Blackleafsabrehawks vs Starleafs games back to 8:00 so it does not conflict with the Colts.

The games are postponed until next week.  The rink would be very slick after all the shoveling, and the temperature will be below the 25 degree cutoff.  The wind chill will be getting close to zero tonite, too.

Hopefully next Sunday the weather will be better.

Hey guys....

I was out there walking around our rink at about 1pm, checking it out.  Here's the scoop:

There was about an inch of snow over the playing surface.  I shoveled some snow, but once cleaned off it was very slick.  Some areas I'd get traction, other areas it was icy and slick.  We'd have to put a lot of salt down after shoveling to make this work.
It's 21 degrees currently as of 2:20, by 6pm it will be colder with the wind chill getting close to zero.

I say we move the games to next week.

The games this weekend are:

6:00   StarLeafs vs Blackleafsabrehawks

High Styck gets a bye week.  StarLeafs and Blackleafsabrehawks will end up playing each other 6 times in the season.

Please bring shovels so we can clear any snow.  If the rink has a lot of ice that we can't remove, we will not play.

I can check out the rink in the afternoon on Sunday.  I'll post a message around 2pm describing it's condition.  If it's not playable we can postpone the games without guys driving all the way out there for nothing.

Hopefully we can play.

Brian from the Blackleafsabrehawks mentioned that High Styck has played more games than the other teams and we should balance this out for the rest of the season.

I added up the actual games played, not factoring in forfeit wins.  Games played by team are:

HSH   21
ID      15
Black   15
Star    12

High Styck has played more games than the other teams.  To try to even out the number of games played, HSH could get a bye week in the next 3 weeks.  For the next 3 weeks we could do:

Week 1    Blackleafs vs Starleafs

Week 2    Identity Crisis vs StarLeafs
               HSH  vs   Blackleafs

Week 3    Identity Crisis  vs  Blackleafs
               StarLeafs  vs   HSH

After 3 weeks we start the playoffs and it can be 1 vs 4, and 2 vs 3.  All teams will make the playoffs this season.

Regarding the weather, I've heard we're going to get a lot of snow this weekend.  The league rule we setup is it has to be over 25 degrees to play, and the court ( rink ) needs to be in playable condition without snow and ice for safe play. 
I guess we'll have to see what happens.
